Levanta’s acquisition of Hartex Engineering has strengthened our ability to deliver an incredible range of heavy vehicle workshop fitouts. One recent example was the Rochedale depot for the Brisbane Metro.
Brisbane City Council’s rollout of an all-electric, zero emissions bus fleet is an integral part of planning for the city’s sustainable future. As part of the Brisbane Metro project, Levanta/Hartex were engaged as the trusted mechanical services subcontractor to builders ADCO for the network’s Rochedale depot, a key infrastructure project to support the rollout.
By working collaboratively with stakeholders, Levanta/Hartex helped develop a tailored solution that will ensure efficient servicing and maintenance capabilities for the Brisbane Metro fleet. The depot design would need to be sufficient to maintain and operate the initial fleet of 60 fully electric bio-articulated vehicles, while also allowing for future expansion.
The project scope included the design, installation, and ongoing maintenance of a range of advanced workshop systems, including:
- Design and installation of a 2-bay, 26m-long suspended ceiling pit
- Fully automated truck wash system with integrated water recycling
- 50-tonne HDS scissor lift installation
- In-floor jacking systems; both T-bar and lift-at-wheel types
- Frame puller system for heavy vehicle repair
- Gap compensator integrated with the roof access platform, enhancing safety during roof-level servicing – the first of its kind implemented in Australia
Providing advanced Brisbane Metro charging solutions, the 12-hectare end-of-route facility is one of the largest, most technologically advanced facilities of its kind in Australia. The project highlights Levanta/Hartex’s commitment to innovation and operational excellence in the transition to sustainable public transport infrastructure.
